Director - Brian Dawson
Brian Dawson, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, has been active in both the design and development areas of construction for more than 36 years. After graduating from California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Architecture, he worked for a variety of architectural firms before moving to Houston, TX, to work for Friendswood Development Company. As a Corporate Architect and Project Manager, he coordinated the development of a numerous commercial, retail and residential projects.
Brian returned to California to open DHP Architects with a partner. After 17 years with that firm, he left to focus his efforts on sustainable senior housing and, in May of 2007, he joined Irwin Partners Architecture. Long an active member of the building community, Brian is the past President of the Southern California chapter of the 50+ Housing Council; a member of the Building Industry Association, volunteering on the Program Committee; a member of the National Association of Home Builders and the U.S. Green Building Council (Orange County chapter). He has been a judge for several prestigious industry competitions including the Sales and Marketing (SAM) Awards, the Laurel Awards and the MAME Awards in both northern and southern California. Brian has authored articles on "Understanding the 50+ buyer" and "The liability associated with attached housing." He has been a speaker at “Building for Boomers,” “Environments for Aging 10” as well as “Environments for Aging 11.”
