Chuck Kalman has more than 25 years of experience in the building industry with a strong emphasis on vertical construction. Having built more than 50 projects and communities in Portland, Phoenix and Southern California, Mr. Kalman possesses a well-rounded understanding of residential community development. His portfolio of projects includes single-family detached homes, entry-level to luxury semi-custom; multi-family condos; townhomes; apartments; high-density podium; commercial tenant improvements; and restaurants.
Specializing in planning and development of 55+ housing and apartment communities, he founded Kalman Development Group Inc. (KDG) in June 2009. KDG is currently working on a 200-unit 55+ apartment community in Orange County. Mr. Kalman's company is also pursuing opportunities from San Diego to San Francisco.
Prior to founding KDG, he served as Vice President of Construction & Development for FountainGlen Properties. FountainGlen Properties developed and managed 55+ apartment communities and was a leader in the industry. Mr. Kalman's responsibilities included preparation of feasibility studies, proformas and budgets; selection and management of consultants through site plan development and entitlements; land development, construction and purchasing; as well as management of capital improvements and maintenance for the 2,400-unit portfolio.
Prior to joining FountainGlen Properties, Mr. Kalman served as Vice President of Construction for Pulte/Del Webb's San Diego Division and Vice President of Operations for D.R. Horton's Orange County Division. In this capacity, he managed the day-to-day operations for construction, purchasing and customer service.
